David AndersonSenior Vice President & Chief Health Officer, StayWell Health Management David Anderson, PhD, is senior vice president & chief health officer and a co-founder of StayWell Health Management, a leading provider of health management programs and services. Since 1985, he has been the primary architect of StayWell's population health strategies, programs and tools. David also shares strategic leadership and has consulted on customer programs that have won nearly 50 major industry awards. David has conducted groundbreaking research of the effectiveness and cost impact of StayWell programs and coauthored several landmark studies. David is chairman of the board of the Health Enhancement Research Organization (HERO), serves on the board and executive committee of the Health Project, which administers the C. Bill Baun has more than 30 years experience in worksite health promotion management and directs the Employeee Wellness program at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Prior to joining MD Anderson, he managed the Tenneco Wellness Program for 16 years, which was internationally recognized for its programming and publications. He is on the board of directors of the Houston Wellness Association and the National Wellness Institute. He also servces on the editorial boards for the ACSM Health & Fitness Journal, the International Journal of Workplace Health Management, and as an associate editor of the American Journal of Health Promotion. His latest book was the "ACSM Worksite Health Promotion Manual" (2003), where he served as a section editor.
Joel Bennett, PhD

Dr. Bennett is primary developer of Team Awareness, the first workplace evidence-based program recognized by the US Department of Health as effective in preventing employee substance abuse. Team Awareness is the flagship prevention program for the U.S. National Guard and has been adapted for various settings including the Youth Corp, ex-offenders, Native American/tribal workers and small businesses. Judge Ed EmmettCounty Judge, Harris CountyEdward M. Emmett became Harris County Judge on March 6, 2007. A member of the Texas House of Representatives from 1979 to 1987, Emmett was chairman of the Committee on Energy, a member of the Transportation Committee, and represented the state on numerous national committees relating to energy and transportation policy. In 1989, President George H. W. Bush nominated Emmett as a Commissioner at the Interstate Commerce Commission. After being confirmed unanimously by the United States Senate, he served on the commission for three years. Prior to becoming County Judge, Emmett founded The Emmett Company, a multi-faceted international consulting and marketing firm specializing in policies, products and services primarily related to the transportation industry. Cathey GordonPrincipal, Worksite Health SolutionsCathey began work as a client services manager at a subsidiary of Merrill Lynch. Her entrepreneur spirit took over, and in 1989 cofounded InterFit Health, which evolved into RediClinic, one of the largest independent convenient care clinic providers in America. Cathey resigned her board position at RediClinic to concentrate on her newly formed business, Worksite Health Solutions, a company which customizes on site screening solutions and staffs and manages employer located/on-site health centers for employees. Along the way, she has served on the board of the American Heart Association and president of Region VI – Association of Worksite Health Promotion. Cathey is an avid athlete and recently completed a 150 mile- 2 day bike ride to benefit the multiple sclerosis society. She has been married for over 30 years and has two grown children.
Terry GrierSuperintendent, H.I.S.D.Terry B. Grier, Ed.D., became the Houston Independent School District's superintendent of schools after a unanimous vote of approval by the district's Board of Education in September 2009. Before coming to Houston, Dr. Grier served as the superintendent of the San Diego Unified School District for 18 months and superintendent of the Guilford County Schools in Greensboro, North Carolina for almost 8 years. While in San Diego, Dr. Grier led a school system that saw student test scores improve dramatically in a year when the district budget was cut by $200 million, opened Southern California's first virtual online high school, increased the number of Advanced Placement exams taken by minority high-school students by 12.5 percent, passed a $2.1-billion school construction/renovation bond package with 69 percent voter approval, and improved student performance on the California Standards Tests to an all-time district high, with scores rising more in one year than in the three previous years combined. Dr. Grier is especially well-regarded for his work in reducing high-school dropout rates with innovative programs for at-risk students.

Paul H. Keckley, Ph.D., is the executive director of the Deloitte Center for Health Solutions, a part of Deloitte LLP. He provides strategic guidance on the development of Center research and thought leadership. Paul has had 30 years of experience in academic medicine and the private sector. He is well-regarded for his knowledge of health care economics, health policy and trend analysis. Prior to joining Deloitte, Paul served in several key roles at Vanderbilt University. He was the executive director of the Vanderbilt Center for Evidence-based Medicine. He oversaw many clinical outsourcing ventures involving care team training, clinical information technology, data management, and evidence-based pathway construction and integration. Laurie R. Lee founded InterFit Health in 1989 to provide health screening services, mainly through employers throughout the US. InterFit Health is now known as RediClinic, one of the largest providers of convenient medical care through clinics in retail grocery/pharmacy stores. Since retiring from RediClinic, Laurie is now President of InterFit Health & Fitness Management Company, which designs and manages employer sponsored Fitness Centers and Health Management programs. She is actively involved on the Board of Directors of The Houston Wellness Association and The Mayor's Wellness Council, and serves as the Worksite Wellness Conference Chairman for 2010. She earned a BA degree with Honors from the University of Texas, and an MSW from University of Houston.
Herb LipsmanPresident & CEO, The Health Club CompanyHerb Lipsman is president and CEO of The Health Club Company, providing management and consulting services to upscale health club and spa facilities, as well as corporate wellness programs and facilities. Karen Love, MHA

Executive Director, Harris County Healthcare AllianceKaren H.Love, MHA is a seasoned healthcare executive with over 20 years of management experience in a wide variety of care delivery settings, ranging from small and large physician group practices, community & teaching hospitals, and complex, integrated healthcare systems. Most recently she served as Health Industry Liaison for the Houston-Galveston Area Council's Health Services Steering Committee, a collaborative of the region's hospitals and health education institutions, where she led efforts to increase regional resources for addressing the nursing and other workforce shortages by over $20 million in five years. Prior to joining H-GAC, Ms. Love served as COO of a large MSO and primary care group practice owned by Memorial Hermann Healthcare System. Jeff Moseley

President & CEO, Greater Houston Partnership

 

Jeff Moseley is the president and CEO of the Greater Houston Partnership, which serves as the primary business advocate for world trade, economic development and public policy for the Houston. In 2005, Moseley, along with the Partnership's board of directors, shepherded the creation of a bold 10-year strategic plan to serve as a blueprint for future job creation and growth for Houston including the creation of 600,000 new jobs; attracting $60 billion in new capital investment; and increasing foreign trade to $225 billion. Additionally, Moseley serves as the guiding force behind the organization's $40 million capital fundraising campaign called Opportunity Houston SM, an aggressive five-year marketing program that will generate leads for high-paying jobs and economic development organizations throughout the 10-county region. Prior to joining the Partnership, Moseley served three terms as Denton County judge, CEO of the Office of the Governor for Economic Development and Tourism, and executive director of the Texas Department of Economic Development. Fred NewmanFounder & CEO, Interface EAPFred Newman is the founder and CEO of Interface EAP. In the mid-eighties he was the CFO of a public company that owned and managed psychiatric hospitals. Here he saw the need for a behavioral healthcare company with a proactive approach for addressing the impact mental health has on medical costs, productivity, and other labor costs. Fred founded Interface EAP in 1989, which began providing services on a national scale in 1990. Annise ParkerMayor, City of HoustonAnnise Parker is an American politician and the mayor of Houston as of January 2, 2010. She served as an at-large member of the Houston City Council from 1997 to 2003 and city controller from 2004 to 2009. Parker is Houston's second female mayor. Growing up in the Spring Branch area, Ms. Parker graduated from Rice University in 1978. After college, Ms. Parker worked in the oil and gas industry, spending 18 of those years at Mosbacher Energy. Additionally, Annise Parker co-owned Inklings Bookshop with a business partner from the late 1980s until 1997. Ms. Parker began her service to the people of Houston in 1997, holding the position of Council Member At-Large, Position 1 for two additional re-elections. In 2003, Ms. Parker was elected City Controller. Having been re-elected twice, Annise Parker is responsible for securing involvement of the city's chief financial officer in the Houston Municipal Pension System Board. Also, Ms. Parker curtailed fiscal inefficiencies through the use of audits and oversaw the implementation of a new paperless payroll system, thus saving the City millions of dollars.
