Karl Dalal is BP’s Director for U.S. Health and Welfare Benefits.  He leads a team responsible for all aspects of the design, delivery and administration of BP’s health and welfare benefit programs offered to more than 80,000 employees and retirees. Prior to joining BP in January 2010, Mr. Dalal was the Director of Healthcare, Insurance and HR Programs for Ford Motor Company.  Karl started work in 1986 as a financial analyst at Ford.  He has 24 years experience in healthcare, benefits, HR, finance and accounting. In addition to his position on the HWA Board, he also presently serves on the Board of Dossia, a non-profit Personal Health Platform company as well as on the Aetna Client Advisory Group.Mr. Dalal received a MS in Management from Purdue University and an executive-MBA from Duke University
Laurie R. Lee, MSW Vice-Chairman of the Board, Houston Wellness Association

Laurie R. Lee launched her career in health promotion when she founded InterFit Health in 1989 to provide health-screening services to individuals, mainly through their employers around the country.  In 1995, the Fitness Management division was created to develop and manage employer sponsored fitness centers.  The two divisions were split into two separate companies in 2000, with InterFit Health becoming RediClinic, one of the largest providers of convenient medical care through clinics in retail grocery/pharmacy stores.  Lee now runs InterFit Health & Fitness Management Company, which designs and develops employer and landlord sponsored fitness centers, and is the Senior Program Director for Shape Up Houston, a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing obesity.  She serves as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Houston Wellness Association and was the Worksite Wellness Conference Chairman for 2010 and 2008. Laurie earned a BA with Honors from the University of Texas, and a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from University of Houston.
Chris Schulz Treasurer, Houston Wellness Association

Chris Schulz is the Sr. Director of Compensation and Benefits at Air Liquide USA. In this role, he is responsible for strategy and delivery of all U.S. compensation programs, health, welfare, wellness, and retirement plans. His focus includes benefits design, alignment with company strategy, and program delivery with a special interest in maximizing the value of wellness initiatives for the company, its employees, and their families. With 15 years of HR experience, he has led initiatives in the areas of benefits operations, consulting, compensation, and compliance. Prior to joining Air Liquide in 2009, Mr. Schulz held leadership positions at Hewitt Associates and Continental Airlines. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Finance and a Masters of Business Administration from the Mays Business School at Texas A&M University. Mr. Schulz was elected to the Houston Wellness Association Board of Directors in 2009 and appointed Treasurer in 2011.  As the Treasurer, Mr. Schulz is responsible directing Association budgets and financial reporting as well as overseeing financial assets and transactions.
William Baun, EPD, CWP, FAWHP Manager of Wellness Programs, MD Anderson

William Baun has more than 34 years experience in worksite health promotion management/programming and directs the Wellness program at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, which was the first healthcare system and NCI-designated Cancer System to receive the CEO Cancer Gold Standard Accreditation.  He is President of the National Wellness Institute, and serves on the Board of the International Association Worksite Health Promotion, and CAN DO a childhood obesity community program.  His latest article “What’s the Hard Return on Employee Wellness Program?” was published in the December 2010 issue of Harvard Business Review.  His latest book, Healthy Women at Work was released by GlaxoSmithKline in 2009. Twice he has addressed groups reviewing worksite health issues chaired by the Surgeon General of the United States.
Travis Brashear, JD  Practice Leader, Health and Group Benefits-Houston, Towers Watson

Travis Brashear has 16 years of health care management experience. As Practice Leader, Mr. Brashear works closely with local Oil & Gas, Chemical, and Health Care clients to respond to the new challenges associated with health care reform. In this role, Mr. Brashear works closely with HR and Executive leadership to build sustainable health care strategies. Prior to his current role, Mr. Brashear was the Market Leader for CIGNA HealthCare in Houston, Austin, San Antonio and Louisiana. In this role, he was instrumental in the development and delivery of KelseyCare powered by CIGNA, a high-performance, integrated delivery model that brought Kelsey-Seybold and CIGNA HealthCare together to offer a unique product to the Houston marketplace. Mr. Brashear received his Law Degree from the University of Kentucky in 1996 and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Centre College, Danville, Kentucky in 1992. Mr. Brashear currently serves as the Chairman of the Board for the Houston Wellness Association. In this role, Mr. Brashear is focused on changing corporate culture in Houston by working to get local employers more engaged in the health status of their employee population. 
Kevin J. Burns Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Business Officer, The Methodist Hospital System Kevin Burns is Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Business Officer for The Methodist Hospital System. Kevin oversees financial services and related activities for TMHS, including financial reporting and budgeting, treasury, the revenue cycle as well as information technology, facilities management and supply chain services. Kevin came to TMHS in April 2012, from Tucson, Arizona, following a successful tenure at University Medical Center (UMC). After serving as CFO for eight years, he subsequently became CEO. While CEO, he led a merger resulting in the formation of the University of Arizona Health Network, the parent organization of an integrated delivery system including a 500-member academic physician practice plan, a Medicaid Health Maintenance Organization and two teaching hospitals with over 700 beds. He served as the interim president and CEO of that organization. Prior to becoming CFO of UMC in 2002, he was a partner with Arthur Andersen and was responsible for its southwest health care practice.   Having grown up in Arizona, Kevin earned his accounting degree from Arizona State University in 1981 and became a certified public accountant in 1984. He has served as an adjunct professor of accounting for the University of Arizona. Currently, he is affiliated with HFMA’s Texas Gulf Coast Chapter and is a past president of HFMA’s Arizona Chapter. He also is a member in good standing of the AICPA and ASCPA. In 2009, Kevin was named CFO of the Year for Healthcare Organizations by the Arizona chapter of the Financial Executives Institute.

 

Mark Christensen Director of Human Resources, MetroNational Mark Christensen currently provides HR leadership to one of the largest privately held real estate developers in the Houston area. He oversees a self-insured medical plan, chairs the Fiduciary Committee of the retirement plan, in addition to the oversight of recruitment, training, compensation, employee relations and office services. Going into its 8th year, Mark and his team put together one of the most comprehensive wellness programs in Houston.  The wellness program includes an annual health fair with biometric testing, quarterly fitness events for employees and spouses, monthly wellness classes, and monthly on-site one-on-one employee meetings with a health coach. This program all ties to an innovative quarterly financial incentive.  In the first 4 years of the program, there was a 16% reduction in plan costs in a market with increasing expenses. 
Mario Di Blasi, CEBS Sales Vice President for the National Accounts division of  Houston and south Texas, Aetna Mr. Di Blasi specializes in the development of relationships with large employers with particular emphasis on emerging strategies in technology, alternative delivery systems and clinical accountability. Mr. Di Blasi has over 25 years of employee benefit and health care experience including senior leadership positions with major carriers in Houston and other markets, and as consultant to physician groups and specialty hospitals. Mr. Di Blasi has also worked as an independent advisor to employers in the technology and energy industries. Mr. Di Blasi earned a BS degree from Florida State University.
Nicole B. Hare-Everline, DHSc, MS, CHES Wellness Director, City of Houston Dr. Nicole B.Hare-Everline has several years of experience as an Employee and Community Health Coach for Baptist Health Systems located in Miami, Florida.  During her tenure, the Wellness Team was awarded Platinum awards for Employee Healthy Lifestyles from the National Business Group on Health and Wellness Councils of America. She has also been instrumental in ascertaining the American Heart Association Fit Friendly Company Award for 17 City of Houston departments. Her other achievements include being awarded the Texas Cardiovascular Health Promotion Award and The Heart and Stroke Healthy City Award.  Dr. Hare-Everline is the City of Houston first Wellness Director and is working to raise health and wellness awareness among approximately 21,000 employees.  Dr. Hare-Everline received her B.S. in Health Education and M.S. in Community Health and Wellness from The University of Central Arkansas. She then went to complete her Doctoral degree in Health Science from the Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Stacy Hodgins Director, Houston Employer Data Collaborative & Immediate Past Executive Director, Houston Wellness Association Stacy Hodgins has over 15 years of experience as a health and productivity advisor, consultant, and innovator. Before joining the Houston Wellness Association, she was Director of the Institute on Health, Productivity, and Human Capital of the National Business Group on Health. There she also led both EMPAQ®, a set of standardized metrics and benchmarking tools to help employers evaluate the effectiveness of their health and productivity management programs, and the annual 700+ participant National Conference on Health, Productivity, and Human Capital.  Ms. Hodgins has prior experience as an independent consultant to Fortune 100 companies and as a client and consulting manager with both Thomson Reuters and HDMS. She has served as a researcher on health-related topics at the National Institute on Occupational Safety and Health and the American Cancer Society. Ms. Hodgins holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Harvard as well as a Masters of Public Health focusing on Epidemiology and Environmental and Occupational Health from the Rollins School at Emory University.
Michael Koehler President & General Manager, CIGNA Healthcare Mike Koehler is President and General Manager for Cigna Healthcare and has been in the health care industry for over 25 years. The last nine in the Houston area. Prior to Houston, Mike and his family lived in Michigan, where he worked for United Healthcare as their President and CEO in Kalamazoo. Mike also worked in the Hospital and Nursing Home industries earlier in his career. This broad based experience serves him well in building alliances throughout the health care industry to achieve mutually beneficial results.
Sheri Lytle,  CMC, SPHR Senior Director of Human Resources, Silver Eagle Distributors

Sheri Lytle has over 20 years experience in the field of Human Resources. She holds a certification of Senior Professional in Human Resource Management (SPHR) from the Human Resource Certification Institute of Society for Human Resource Management. She has earned two bachelors’ degrees and a Masters degree with concentrations in the field of business, human resources (personnel management) and industrial relations along with information technology. She has been nominated and appeared in the “Who’s Who in Human Resources” and “Who’s Who in Professionals” publications. Sheri is also a Certified Management Consultant (CMC).  Sheri also serves as an adjunct faculty member for Olivet Nazarene University where she has taught human resources and business courses for over 13 years. Topics include: Employment Law, Performance Management, Adult Wellness, Training and Development, Recruitment and Selection, Health, Safety, and Regulatory Compliance, Organizational and Industrial Psychology, Conflict Management and Resolution, Developing and Retaining Top Talent, along with several others.

Shara McClure Vice President Network Management, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas Shara McClure joined Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) in 2005. As vice president of network management, she is responsible for provider relations, provider contracting, and provider services statewide. Prior to her current position, Ms. McClure was divisional vice president of Houston Healthcare Operations at BCBSTX. Ms. McClure’s previous health care experience in the Houston area includes serving as director of provider contracting for Humana, contract specialist for a Houston-area independent physician association, director of managed care services for Tenet Healthcare, and manager for Prudential’s Houston health care operations. She began her career as a systems analyst at Price Waterhouse. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business analysis from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Ms. McClure is a Senior Fellow with the American Leadership Forum Houston and a graduate of Leading Women Executives.  She serves on the Houston Wellness Association board and is on the Executive Leadership Team for the American Heart Association’s 2013 Go Red for Women Luncheon. 
Francis Page, Jr. President & Chief Executive Officer, Minority Print Media Francis Page, Jr. is the Publisher of Houston Style Magazine, Houston's leading weekly African-American entertainment publication. In 1989, he began Minority Print Media, L.L.C. and started publishing Houston Style Magazine. The company is certified and actively conducts business in the states of Georgia, Illinois, and Texas. He also produces events including: the Money.Power.Destiny Conference, Houston Juneteenth Multicultural Health Festival and Thirty Under Thirty. Francis has set many precedents. He was first to establish print media partnership with KTRK-TV Local 2, the only African-American publication officially covering the Houston City Council each week, and the first to produce a 104-page 2006 Essence Festival special edition. Francis Page, Jr. has been recognized by several community and political leaders, including two former Texas Governors and three former City of Houston Mayors. Francis Page, Jr. is an avid volunteer and maintains his connection to the community. He founded the "Community Outreach Program," a theatre and arts program for inner city youths, and serves on several non-profit boards.
Kellie Rob Director of Sales for Key Accounts, UnitedHealthcare of Texas Kellie Rob is the Director of Sales for Key Accounts for UnitedHealthcare of Texas, Inc. in Houston.  Ms. Rob is responsible for managing a staff of two New Business Coordinators and four Account Executives who cover the sales territory of Greater Houston, Victoria, Beaumont as well as the Valley and Corpus area (100+ employees). Ms. Rob also has responsibilities for developing and maintaining brokerage and consulting community partnerships.  Ms. Rob has worked in the group insurance industry since 1997 in various account management roles in multiple regions of the US (Ohio, GA and Texas) then moved into management in 2005.  She joined UnitedHealthcare as the Director of Account Management in 2008. In February of 2010, Kellie was promoted to the Director of Sales.  Ms. Rob has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology/Medial Technology from the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio.
Chris Skisak, PhD President & Founder, Corporate Health Management Solutions Chris Skisak, PhD is the President of Corporate Health Management Solutions, an organizational health and productivity management (HPM) company. Dr. Skisak provides strategic consulting & software to employers and their health management partners to help demonstrate the value and return on their health management strategy. He has been promoting HPM as a business strategy at the local and national level for the past decade. His research is focused on demonstrating the link between health outcomes and business financial metrics. He has published many articles on HPM and other health topics in peer reviewed scientific journals. Prior to founding CHMS he spent 20 years with Fortune 100 companies in a variety of health management positions. He received his B.S. from the University of Illinois and his M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Texas School of Public Health.
