The conference will highlight the implementation of cost-effective wellness programming that impacts the bottom-line. | Saturday, January 16th: Houston Obesity Summit - "Obesity: One Size Does Not Fit All" |
| A full-day summit for those on the front lines combating obesity that wish to foster communication and stimulate collaboration to solve the problem of obesity in the City of Houston and communities beyond. Attendees will leave equipped with the knowledge necessary to improve upon the quality of health and wellness of all our residents and be an example for other communities upon which to build. |

The Opening Session would consist of 3-4 speakers who would cover __a. The general theme (Eduardo Sanchez) __b. Diversity in Houston (Steven Klineberg) __c. Developing a Major Health Initiative (Alicia Moag-Stahlberg and Healthy Kids Program) __d. Obesity Initiatives Across the Nation (Leon Andrews, League of Cities) Each would be 20-25 minutes in length, with 5-20 minutes for questions. Following the Opening Session, there would be a 30 minute break in which speakers would be available at tables in the exhibitor area to continue discussion and answer additional questions A Keynote Session would then follow focused on challenges related to engaging the obese (particularly morbid) individual (suggested speakers: John Foreyt, Kelly Brownell, Michael Fleming) The afternoon would consist of two 1-hour breakout sessions that would be repeated, with a 30 minute break in between. (In other words, speakers in Breakout Session 1 would give their talks again in Breakout Session 2) Breakout Topics Suggested include: A session entitled, "You're Not Listening to Me!" in which patients and physicians would discuss their various frustrations and needs in terms of obesity treatment Technology and Social Networking as a means to promote health Culturally specific programs for obesity intervention/prevention Healthy Nutrition for a Culturally Diverse Population Targeting Obesity in Schools: Best Practices in Houston Schools Obesity Issues for Men and Women: Relationships, Body Image, and Self Esteem Medical Treatments/Prevention Programs for Obesity across Diverse Communities Identifying the Obese Individual's Needs: What do Health Seekers Want? Morbid Obesity: Etiology and Treatment Physical Activity and Obesity
